Gastroscopy with virtual chromoendoscopy
Presentation of the case of a 47-year-old patient who had been complaining about abdominal symptoms with concomitant diarrhea for years. An external gastroscopy showed a small post-bulbar mass that was histologically consistent with a well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor.
Here, the gastroscopic visualization of the finding obtained using virtual chromoendoscopy is presented.
Take home messages:
Given the family history and multiple endocrine tumors in the duodenum, the natural conclusion is to suspect a late manifestation of MEN 1.
Further diagnostics should focus on gastrin levels and sonographic studies of the thyroid and pancreas.
Live endoscopy from the HSK Dr. Horst Schmidt Hospitals in Wiesbaden in collaboration with „Video Journal and Encyclopedia of GI Endoscopy“.
